Happiness with a capitol H

It's been a goal/dream of mine to have a blog for at least a year now and I figured, it's about time to do it!!!
A couple of days ago after returning home from a wonderful lesson with the Sister Missionaries... which always makes me super duper happy... I came home and wrote a journal entry about happiness.
I decided it's time to stop pretending to be happy and just be happy. (This probably only makes sense in my brain but just humor me, and pretend you know what I'm talking about, after all that's what would make me happy.)
So, back to this journal entry I wrote in the wee hours of the morning, because that's when all great inspiration comes right? or just crazy sleep deprived thoughts, either way I'm on a mission to be HAPPY!

So, I was just laying in my bed reflecting, when this crazy thought came into my head, "Holy Crap, your 25! What have you done with your life?" While I have done a lot of amazing things, I've also spent a lot of time worrying about silly things, sleeping, procrastinating, sleeping, being depressed/negative and did I mention sleeping? I love sleeping but it's a big time waster.
Which led me to making a list of things I can do that will add happiness to my life.
For example,

Take More Pictures!
Yeah, I know, you can't take your memory card to heaven but pictures encourage you to do cool things, no boring pictures here.

Spend less time hiding in your room!
It's easy at school to hide away in your private bedroom, but I believe one of the amenities that comes with your rent is roommates...  your missing out if you hide like a little turtle in your shell called your bedroom!
GET OUT OF YOUR SHELL
Do things that make you uncomfortable!
Yeah, trying things for the first time can be super scary and uncomfortable, but don't you usually end up saying "I'm so glad I did that!" I plan on saying this a lot:)

Stop worrying about what others think!

I grew up a really shy person... I know what your thinking, really? what happened? right?
Well it's true I was shy! I wouldn't even go up to the counter at a fast food restaurant to ask for condiments, I would just do without.
Well that shyness still comes out sometimes. Like when I'm taking a picture in public and people start looking at me, cause that's what people do. And then I get really nervous because everyone is staring at me and I just want to be done with the picture. And my brain starts thinking ABORT, ABORT, PEOPLE ALERT!
Does anyone else do that?

Well, I can guarantee you my list is longer then 4 things but some of them are more personal and others are just silly, but the number one thing on my list is to live the Gospel... to come what may and love it.
The true source of happiness in this life comes from Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ! I love the gospel and I'm so glad I've had so many opportunities to share it with others. I love being a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I know while I may not where a black tag anymore that declares that to everyone, I am still a missionary.  I Know It. I Live It. I Love It.

  1. Christine I love it! Just what I needed to hear today. I've been having some similar thoughts. :) You're happier when you're doing things, and especially when they don't ALL revolve around you. (Of course we need to do some things for ourselves, like eat ice cream...) Love you, and can't wait to read more about your awesome life.
